It’s only been three years since Peter Marigold made a seamless transition from sculpture to product design. Having graduated in Fine Art and Sculpture from Central St Martins in 1997, it’s little surprise to find an instinctively creative, conceptual quality to his work. His output since enrolling in the Royal College of Art Design MA in 2004 (from which he graduated just last year) has been prolific, to say the least. He’s currently experimenting with a 3-D take on the Cubist ethos: ‘The principle is that by splitting a form into angled pieces and then inverting them, a total of 360 degrees is achieved. There’s something profound about turning an object inside out and discovering a new object inside and I’ve used this as the basis for a series of new storage pieces.’ Marigold’s collection will be shown at the Paul Smith Showroom as one of the Great Brits, a show jointly organised by the Design Museum and the British Council titled ‘Ingenious Therapies’ (leer más…)
